In a thrilling all-English affair, Chelsea emerged victorious in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final, defeating Manchester City 1-0 at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal.
Kai Havertz proved to be the hero for Chelsea, scoring the decisive goal in the 42nd minute. The German forward raced onto a through ball from Mason Mount and coolly slotted it past Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
Despite dominating possession, Manchester City failed to find a way past Chelsea's resolute defense. Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made several key saves, including a crucial stop from Riyad Mahrez in the second half.
Chelsea's victory marks their second Champions League title in nine years. It is also the first time an English club has won the competition since Liverpool in 2019.
Manchester City, meanwhile, must come to terms with their first defeat in the Champions League final. Pep Guardiola's side will have to regroup and hope to return stronger next season.
